Introduction :
The belief in “Mahdi” originates from the divine nature of mankind. All people habitually look for peace and tranquility and want the oppression and injustice to be removed. This need has always existed among nations and all religions contain a promise about the arrival of a savior. This is why we see this is a common belief in most of the holy books.
This belief cause s hope in the hearts of people and encourage them to always wait for that promise to be fulfilled. Though the religious texts regarding to savior do not all match exactly with each other , it at least proves that such a belief is common among all nations.
However, to believe in such a savior or redeemer is referred to with many titles and names . Many religions have this belief that is famous a messiah concept, including the Jewish Messiah, the Christian Christ, the Muslim Mahdi, the Buddhist Maitreya , the Hindu Kalki and the Zoroastrian Saoshyant .
The belief in a savior in Islam:
All Moslems believe that there is a man whose name is Mahdi that will appear at the end of the world .
Shia believe that he is the final Imam and from the progeny of the prophet of Islam. They believe that he is now alive although he has a very long life.
Sunni believes that though his name is Mahdi and is from one of the descendants of the Prophet but has not been born yet.

The belief in a s avior in Judaism :
In Psalms:
Psalms, 37:9 , “ For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. ”
Psalms, 37:18 , “ The LORD knoweththe days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be forever . ”
In Psalms, the whole 40 verses of the 37 th chapter elaborates about this promise that the righteous will inherit the earth and the root of the evildoers will be cut off.
In Isaiah:
In a part of this book, God promises His servants that it won’t last too much for justice to be implemented everywhere in the earth and that peacefulness will last forever:
Isaiah, 56:1 , “ Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. ”
Isaiah, 32:17 , “ And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever . ”
Isaiah, 32:16 , “ And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. ”
In Zechariah :
Zechariah , 14 : 9 , “ And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. ”
In Daniel :
Daniel , 12: 1, “ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book . ”
Daniel , 12: 2, “ And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt . ”
We the Moslems also believe that when the Savior comes some people will return back to life.
Daniel , 12: 3, “ And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever . ”
Daniel , 12: 12, “ Blessed is he that waiteth , and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days . ”
The belief in a savior in Christianity :
In Matthew:
Matthew , 24:29, “ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken .”
Matthew , 24:30, “ And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory . ”
In Luke :
Luke, 12:37, “ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching … ”
Luke, 12:40, “ Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think no.”
In John:
John, 5: 27, “ And hath given him authority to execute judgment al so, because he is the Son of man. ”
John, 5:28, “ Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice.”
John, 5:29, “ And shall come forth; they that have done good , unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. ”
The belief in a savior in Hinduism :
Vishnu Purana IV:24,26-27, “He will then reestablish righteousness upon Earth; and the minds of those who live at the end of the Kali age shall be awakened, and shall be as translucent as crystal.”
Bhavishya Purana , Canto IV, Chapter 23, Text 15 , “ The Savior of the entire universe, Maha Vishnuwill be born on MargashirshaMonth, Krishna Ashtami 8 th day after the full-moon day. ”
The belief in a savior In Zoroastrianis m:
The role of the Saoshyant , or Astvat-ereta , as a future saviour of the world is briefly described in Yasht 19.88-96, where it is stated that he will achieve the frasho.kereti , that he will make the world perfect and immortal, and evil will disappear.
The belief in a savior in Buddhism :
Maitreya is a bodhisattva who in the Buddhist tradition is to appear on Earth, achieve complete enlightenment, and teach the pure dharma ( the teaching of the Buddha ) . The prophecy of the arrival of Maitreya is found in the canonical literature of all Buddhist sects ( Theravāda , Mahāyāna , Vajrayāna ) and is accepted by most Buddhists as a statement about an actual event that will take place in the distant future.
